Understanding and Experiences of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Students in the Healthy Snack Education Program: A Phenomenological Approach in Lebak, Kaliwiro
Keywords:
Nutrition Education, Healthy Snacks, Madrasah StudentsAbstract
This study aims to explore the understanding and experiences of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah students in Lebak, Kaliwiro, in participating in the healthy snack education program. The background of the research stems from the tendency of elementary school children to choose snacks based on taste and price, without considering hygiene and nutritional value. The research method employs a qualitative phenomenological approach using in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The results show that most students are able to understand the characteristics of healthy snacks, such as not containing excessive coloring, being cleanly packaged, and having nutritional value. In addition, students also demonstrated behavioral changes, such as being more selective when buying snacks and starting to bring meals from home. However, several obstacles were identified, including time constraints, ingrained habits, price factors, and lack of parental support. The role of teachers, the school environment, and collaboration with families are key factors for the program’s success. This study emphasizes the importance of synergy between schools, parents, and the community in supporting the sustainability of healthy snack education as part of shaping clean and healthy living behaviors from an early age.
