Abstract

Indonesia has a wealth of natural resources that can be used as a basic ingredient for herbal medicine through the processing of simplicia. This study aims to analyze the level of basic understanding of farmers in Bojongsari Village, Purbalingga Regency on the processing of simplicia made from ginger (Zingiber Officinale), turmeric (Curcuma longa L.), and kencur (Kaempferia galanga) after receiving education. The research method used was quantitative research by collecting data through questionnaires to 30 farmer respondents in Banyu Mudal Hamlet, Bojongsari Village on August 2, 2025. Data was collected through literature studies and field studies by distributing questionnaires. The results of the study show that the farming community has a sufficient understanding of simplicia processing training, including the definition of simplicia, the parts of the plant that can be used as simplicia, safe drying methods, and good storage methods. However, in terms of practical readiness, 46.7% of respondents felt that they were not ready, 30% needed guidance, and only 23.3% were very prepared. The main obstacles faced are the lack of hands-on practice and the need for adequate choppers and dryers. The farming community wants the sustainability of the training program with direct practical assistance to improve simplicia processing skills.
