Abstract

The community-based program of processing mixed livestock waste into BioFermix in Cikendung Village was implemented through a participatory approach to support sustainable agriculture without chemical fertilizers. This initiative, carried out as part of a Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata/KKN), actively involved local residents in all stages, from problem identification and technical training to field application. BioFermix was formulated from a mixture of cow, chicken, and goat manure, fermented with Effective Microorganisms 4 (EM4) and supplemented with natural additives such as rice husks and molasses. Evaluation results indicated that BioFermix contains macronutrients (N, P, K) and a C/N ratio that meet organic fertilizer standards, while improving soil structure and fertility. Socially, the program enhanced community skills and awareness in livestock waste management, reduced dependence on chemical fertilizers, and created local economic opportunities. These outcomes demonstrate that locally sourced innovations combined with active community engagement can serve as a replicable model for other rural areas.
