Community Empowerment Through Corn Porridge Processing as a Nutritious Food Supplement

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that has serious impacts on physical growth, cognitive development, and the quality of life of children in the future. Jabres Village, Sruweng District, Kebumen Regency, is facing nutritional issues among children triggered by a lack of attention to fulfilling balanced nutritious intake. One of the preventive efforts made is the utilization of corn as a local food source to be processed into nutritious corn porridge. This community service activity aims to increase elementary school children's understanding of the importance of balanced nutrition through counseling and distribution of corn porridge. The method used is counseling with a limited participation approach, including the delivery of material on the nutritional content of corn, its benefits for growth, and demonstrations of making corn porridge by the KKN UMP Group 20 team in collaboration with Jabres Public Elementary School. The results of the activities show an increase in children's knowledge about balanced nutrition and the importance of consuming nutritious local foods. Corn porridge was introduced as an example of healthy, practical, and affordable food that can help prevent stunting from an early age. This activity is expected to cultivate healthy eating habits in children and become a sustainable step in improving family food security.
