Abstract

Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease caused by the Leptospira bacteria and is commonly found in tropical countries like Indonesia. This disease often increases during the rainy season because the humid environment supports the bacteria's survival. Transmission generally occurs through contact with water or soil contaminated with the urine of infected animals, especially rats as the main reservoir. Counseling on the dangers of leptospirosis was conducted in Pulosari Village, Karangpoh Hamlet, Pulosari District, Pemalang Regency, Central Java in August 2025 using a door-to-door method using leaflets. The activity aimed to increase public knowledge and awareness about the definition, causes, symptoms, prevention, and treatment of leptospirosis. The results of the activity showed high enthusiasm and active participation from the community, marked by involvement in discussions and acceptance of health messages. The door-to-door method has proven effective in directly conveying information, encouraging clean living behaviors, and raising awareness of leptospirosis. Continuous education and community involvement are needed to minimize the risk of transmission in vulnerable areas.
