Abstract

The Muhammadiyah Purwokerto University Community Service Program (KKN) in Keleng Village, Kesugihan District, Cilacap Regency was implemented to overcome environmental problems such as lack of clean water sources, increased risk of erosion, and land degradation due to reduced vegetation cover. These conditions have an impact on the decline in environmental quality, dependence on agricultural activities, and reduced sources of livelihood for the village community. This activity uses a reforestation method with two stages, namely consultation and practice. The consultation stage was carried out with the village government, farmer groups, and the community to identify critical locations, determine the types of plants that are suitable for soil and climate conditions, and design effective planting strategies. From the results of the discussion, it was decided to use beringin, aren palm and jengkol plants, which were considered to have ecological benefits as well as economic potential. The practical phase involved preparing the land and planting the seedlings in mutual cooperation. As a result, the program was able to increase reforestation, improve hydrological balance, prevent erosion, and potentially provide economic benefits through harvests. In conclusion, reforestation activities based on community participation in Keleng Village proved effective in overcoming environmental problems while empowering the community economically. This implementation model can be replicated in other areas that have similar problems, with adjustments to the geographical and social conditions of each region.
