Abstract

Community empowerment is an effort to improve the welfare and abilities of individuals in the community through various productive activities. One method that has proven effective is catfish farming using gallons and aquaponic systemsa with soil media. This article discusses the application of efficient catfish farming by utilizing recycled gallons as well as the integration of aquaponic plants that use soil media as a source of nutrients for plants. This method aims to provide an alternative to community empowerment that is efficient in the use of space, sustainable, and environmentally friendly, especially in dense residential areas. This research used a participatory approach by providing hands-on training to the community. The results show that catfish farming in gallons and aquaponics with soil media can increase community productivity and income, as well as provide environmental benefits through waste reduction. This empowerment also contributes to the improvement of community knowledge and independence in managing available resources.
