Abstrak

Waste cooking oil is a household by-product with high potential to cause environmental pollution if disposed of without prior treatment. The Community Service Program (KKN) 119 in Joho Hamlet, Adiraja Village, Adipala Subdistrict, aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of housewives in processing waste cooking oil into liquid dishwashing soap through hands-on training. This study employed a one group pre–post test design involving 15 respondents selected using stratified random sampling. Data were collected through participatory observation, pre-test and post-test assessments, and documentation. The Shapiro–Wilk test was applied to assess data normality, followed by a paired t-test to evaluate differences in scores before and after the intervention. Results showed an increase in the mean knowledge score from 10.50 to 14.30 (p < 0.05), along with good skills in following the soap-making procedure. This activity proved effective as a practical, low-cost, and environmentally friendly household waste management model, while supporting the circular economy concept at the community level.
