Abstract

The high pineapple production in Indonesia generates a large amount of peel waste that remains underutilized. Most of this waste is either discarded or used in limited ways, potentially causing environmental problems such as air, water, and soil pollution. This study aims to process pineapple peel waste into eco-enzyme and environmentally friendly dishwashing liquid through a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach involving active community participation. The program was carried out in August 2025 through several stages, including preparation of materials and tools, eco-enzyme production, liquid soap formulation, packaging, and product testing. The results showed that fermentation of pineapple peel produced eco-enzyme with a clear brownish color, a fresh fermentation aroma, and active enzymes such as bromelain, which function as natural cleaning agents. The resulting eco-enzyme-based dishwashing liquid had a homogeneous texture, rich foam, a natural aroma, and effectively removed grease from kitchenware. This program successfully improved community skills in managing organic waste, reduced waste volume, and applied circular economy principles through the reuse of plastic bottles as packaging. These findings indicate that transforming pineapple peel waste into value-added products can serve as a sustainable waste management strategy, particularly relevant for rural areas.
