Abstract

The Village Zakat Management Body (Badan Amil Zakat Desa / Bazdes) of Mergosari, Sukoharjo Subdistrict, Wonosobo Regency, is an innovative, community-based zakat and charity management model involving all village households. Since its launch on December 29, 2022, Bazdes Mergosari has distributed charity boxes to 750 households as a means of regularly collecting funds. Collection is carried out monthly by PKK (Family Welfare Movement) cadres, with additional support from migrant villagers through bank transfers. The collected funds are allocated to social programs such as the rehabilitation of uninhabitable houses (RTLH), educational assistance for santri (Islamic boarding school students), micro-enterprise capital, and aid for families affected by misfortune. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method through document analysis and local news review to describe the mechanisms, achievements, and social impact of Bazdes Mergosari as a village-based empowerment model. The results indicate that Bazdes Mergosari successfully collects tens of millions of rupiah each month, assists 11 RTLH households, and strengthens social cohesion through mutual cooperation (gotong royong). Key success factors include full community participation, transparent reporting, and synergy with the Wonosobo Regency BAZNAS. This model has the potential to be replicated in other villages as a sustainable social self-reliance strategy.
