Ecobrick: Plastic Waste Solution for Literacy Facilities at SD Negeri Welahan 01 Adipala

This Real Work Lecture activity program was carried out at SD Negeri Welahan 01 Adipala which aims to integrate plastic waste management and increase literacy through the use of ecobricks as a reading corner. This activity uses the Participatory Action Research (PAR) which involves the active participation of students, teachers, and school staff in all stages, from planning, making ecobricks, installing facilities, to monitoring and evaluation. Although the PAR method is applied, the limited implementation time makes each stage in-depth not able to be carried out in depth, but the participation of school residents remains optimal. Monitoring was carried out through direct observation and distribution of questionnaires to 79 respondents consisting of teachers/school staff and several participating students. The results showed an increase in students' understanding of the concept of ecobricks, an increase in reading motivation, a positive assessment of school aesthetics, and a sense of comfort in learning in the reading corner. Teachers and staff consider this program to be able to foster environmental awareness, creativity, and involvement in the maintenance of facilities in a sustainable manner. Synergy between school residents creates an environmentally friendly and sustainable learning ecosystem. This program proves that ecobricks can be a creative solution to reduce plastic waste as well as a medium for forming a culture of environmental care from an early age. In the future, further assistance and involvement of the surrounding community are needed so that the program can be developed more widely and replicated in other schools as an integrated literacy-based environmental education model
