Community Empowerment Through Promotion of Complong Woven Products in Wonorejo Village, Kebumen

Community empowerment is a key strategy for enhancing local potential and the economic well-being of residents. In Wonorejo Village, Karanganyar District, Kebumen Regency, the community has a long-standing tradition of utilizing pandan leaves to create a traditional woven product known as complong. However, this product has faced low market demand due to its limited form and function. This situation began to change when a community member developed the skills to innovate, transforming the basic complong material into higher-value goods such as bags, mats, wallets, and various other handicrafts. Through a collaborative approach, the community, which previously only produced the traditional weaving, now acts as a raw material supplier. These materials are then processed by an innovative artisan into creative and functional products. The results of this empowerment have not only increased the economic value of complong but have also encouraged greater community participation in a creative production chain based on local potential.
