Abstract

This community service program focuses on making liquid organic fertilizer by utilizing salak fruit waste (Salacca zalacca), which is carried out in Garunglor Village, Sukoharjo District, Wonosobo Regency. The Salak Farmers Group of Garunglor Village needs assistance due to a lack of understanding in processing and utilizing salak waste. The purpose of this program is to increase knowledge and encourage public interest in how to make liquid organic fertilizer from salak waste. The preparation of this article uses the PAR (Participatory Action Research) method, an alternative research methodology oriented towards community empowerment and transformative social change. The implementation of PAR begins with the principle of deep participation, where researchers and community members are collectively involved from the beginning to identify problems that are directly felt and relevant to their lives. Next, the process involves action orientation, triangulation, and flexibility. The implementation of this program includes counseling on the potential of salak waste and training on making liquid organic fertilizer from the waste. The results of the activity show that farmer groups are interested in producing liquid organic fertilizer from salak waste to support their agricultural business so that it can increase income as well as reduce the use of chemical fertilizers. This research is expected to foster awareness of the importance of sustainable and environmentally friendly agricultural practices that are efficient.
